Summer 2017/2018 in New Zealand is just around the corner, so this is a great time to buy a new swimsuit.  We love bright colours, florals, stripes, spots and ice cream pastels but trending this year is the timeless, elegant and slimming black swimsuit.

Before you splash into the ocean this summer, make sure you splash out and invest in a black swimsuit.  However, don’t worry about disappearing into a sea of black.  The black swimsuit has come a long way and is anything but boring. Here are just a few of the options available …

The One Piece
The one piece or maillot always looks stylish in black.This season 80s styles such as the high cut bottom and low cut chest are popular.

Bikini

Bikinis are now offered in many different styles to suit different body shapes. The full bottom, and high waisted pant are great for the curvier frame and smaller bottoms or g-strings will accentuate the more athletic body type.
Triangle tops are now more structured and suit small chested women, while full cups and halter tops offer coverage and support for fuller chested women.  Bandeau tops are popular this season and can be worn with high waisted bottoms for a retro vibe, or with hipsters for a fun, sporty look.

Sheer

Sheer is a big fashion trend this spring/summer, and this is also going to be seen in swimwear.  Look out for sheer panels and transparent inserts to bring a little sexy to your black bikini or one piece suit.
